Community Rail Awards recognise young people’s campaign

Young people from Bradford have received recognition from the Community Rail Awards for their campaign on unwanted sexual behaviour on trains.

The campaign, which came together whilst on the NCS Changemaker programme with Bradford City Football Club’s Community Foundation, has been shortlisted for the ‘Most Enhanced Communications Campaign Award’.

This is not the first time these young people have received recognition for this campaign. Earlier this year, they were invited to Westminster to speak with MPs such as Holly Walker-Lynch MP, Shadow Minister for Security and Hilary Benn MP as to why this matter is so important. Read more here.

The Community Rail Awards, now in its 18th year, recognises the important work carried out across Britain’s rail network to make stations welcoming spaces for passengers and visitors alike. Alongside this, the awards celebrate the volunteers that carry out vital community engagement work with schools, colleges, and other local groups to help educate and secure passengers of the future, which is critical to ensuring our railways are an inclusive, sustainable, healthy way to travel.

The NCS Changemakers, staff from Bradford City Community Programme and the EFL Trust will be attending the Community Rail Awards in Manchester on Thursday 6th October where the winners will be announced. The event is jointly sponsored by Northern and Transport for Greater Manchester.
