Former Walsall Academy Prospect Joins Walsall FC Community As Community Sports Coach

After twelve months of playing football abroad in the Swedish fourth-tier, an unfortunate injury meant that Jenson Jones returned to the UK to recover and spend more time with his family.

Though prospects in the job market have been universally slim as a consequence of the Coronavirus pandemic, Jenson – now 20-years-old – had previously volunteered with Walsall FC’s Community programme, coaching their developmental squads, as well as Saturday sessions & football camps. Jenson, is also familiar with the club, having played for Walsall’s academy until the age of 11.

Therefore, the chance to join Walsall FC Community programme as a Community Sports Coach thanks to the Kickstart scheme was a perfect opportunity for Jenson, who wanted to spend time expanding his coaching experience & qualifications.

“I’m really enjoying my new role and working alongside enthusiastic coaches that have a genuine love for the game,” explained Jenson.

“Trying to secure a job during the pandemic was extremely difficult, but Kickstart has given me a chance.”

“The initiative has provided the club with an excellent opportunity to support youngsters in the community as we resume activity,” said Walsall FC Community Programme Director Adam Davy.

“The Kickstart coaching staff have been already heavily involved in all of our activities, while the marketing Kickstart have brought fresh ideas to our social media and promotional materials.”
