Dylan Cook: Why I joined the EFL Trust Youth Forum

My name’s Dylan, I’m 21 years old from Wolverhampton and currently a third-year student studying Football Coaching, Development and Administration at the University of South Wales. I’m the newest member of the EFL Trust Youth Forum.

Since a young age, I have had a passion for coaching particularly within football. Prior to joining the EFL Trust Youth Forum, I studied a Level 3 Sports Coaching qualification with Telford College to further my passion.

Outside of coaching, I spend most of my free time watching and playing football, along with going to the gym and I am also very passionate about music. I am a very confident outgoing individual and always look to try new things when possible. My motivations during my career so far have been to always strive for better, for myself and for others around me.

Therefore, as a part of my motivation to strive for better, I decided to apply for the forum as I felt it was an opportunity for me to represent my own views and the views of other people. I believe that it is a great opportunity for a young person like myself to make a change in the community.

Additionally, I also believe it will be an extremely valuable experience for myself for my own personal development and to attain new skills, in which will be greatly beneficial for my future.

I hope to make a difference within the EFL Trust itself and the community I am part of. I have been through both the BTEC programme and now I am currently on my final year of my degree at USW, in which I have put myself in a good position.

Throughout my time in the EFL Trust Youth Forum I am hoping to learn new transferable skills and develop the ones I currently have. Along with this, I would like to become more of a leader as I feel I’m able to make a difference within EFL Trust and the community.

I’m looking forward to meeting my peers on the Forum and have some discussions with them, learning more about them and their background, along with their aims for the forum. Also, I am looking forward to being able to pitch my ideas within the youth forum and discuss ways how we can make a positive change.
