Proud to deliver Joy of moving programme in milestone year

The EFL Trust is proud to celebrate 10 years of delivery across England and Wales of the Ferrero social responsibility programme, Joy of moving, with its network of Club Community Organisations (CCOs).

As the impactful programme enters its milestone 10th year, Joy of moving has inspired over 550,000 children to get moving through play and delivered over 2.5 million hours of learning in hundreds of schools.

With more than 70,000 children set to benefit from the programme this academic year via 27 CCOs, Joy of moving is based on a unique methodology, developed by Ferrero alongside independent experts.

Joy of moving encourages children to get active using play as the foundation, whilst helping them to develop key skills, such as motor coordination, creativity, and social skills.

In the UK, the unbranded Joy of moving programme consists of two elements: the Move & Learn project and the Joy of moving Festivals, delivered in schools.

Charlie Cayton, Director of Corporate Affairs and Communications at Ferrero UK, said: “We are incredibly proud to be celebrating ten years of our Joy of moving social responsibility programme.

“The programme, delivered by our amazing partner and their fantastic Club Community Organisations, inspires children to get moving while playing and having fun.

“We know that this approach is key to get children engaged and I’m delighted to be able to say that together we have been able to reach over half a million children since our initiative began.

“Joy of moving has gone from strength to strength over the past decade and we’re excited for the programme to continue its success as we look ahead to the future.”

Adrian Bradley, Head of Healthier Communities at the EFL Trust added: “More than half (53 per cent) of children do not meet the Chief Medical Officer guidelines of taking part in sport and physical activity for at least 60 minutes every day, according to Sport England findings*.

“Our Club Community Organisations (CCOs) are at the heart of their communities and have been integral in the development and delivery of the Joy of moving programme designed to inspire active lifestyles in children, teaching children how to enjoy moving through play, and to help them develop positive habits for adulthood.”

Over 72,000 Primary School Children Set To Discover The Joy of moving

This year marks the ninth year of the EFL Trust delivering Ferrero UK’s corporate social responsibility programme, Joy of moving, in England and Wales.

Through the charity partnership, EFL Club Community Organisations will continue to support and inspire thousands of children to lead an active and balanced lifestyle.

The Joy of moving, Ferrero’s unbranded CSR programme, has been supporting children across EFL Communities in the UK for the past eight years, engaging over 440,000 children during that period, with a further 72,000 primary school children set to benefit from the programme this year.

The programme consists of two elements – the school-based Move & Learn programme and the Joy of moving Festivals – which have been developed in conjunction with EFL Trust. The unbranded programme is designed to inspire children to move through play, and in doing so, build up key skills such as physical fitness, motor coordination, cognitive functions and creativity and life skills.

A teacher, who welcomed Charlton Athletic Community Trust to deliver a Joy of moving session recently, said:

“Children have thoroughly enjoyed the Joy of moving programme. I liked the way young people have been taught the importance of physical health. As a teacher, I have also enjoyed learning a new approach to PE.”

Alongside the in-school programme offer is the Joy of moving Resource Hub which houses a variety of fun games and activities to get children and families moving at home.

Cathy Abraham, Chief Executive at EFL Trust added:

“We are extremely proud of the Joy of moving programme and the positive impact it has on children each year. We are delighted to continue our partnership with Ferrero and through the EFL Trust’s network of Club Community Organisations, we will continue to deliver a fun programme to children and families.”

Charlie Cayton, Director of Corporate Affairs and Communications, Ferrero UK concluded:

“We’re incredibly proud to have been able to deliver our corporate social responsibility programme, Joy of moving, over the past eight years to children up and down the country. Through our long-term charity partnership with the EFL Trust, the programme has delivered some fantastic results and helps to inspire children to learn skills that will support them in developing positive habits for adulthood. We look forward to the next year of the partnership as we continue to inspire children and families to get active and to discover the Joy of moving.”

Kinder + Sport Move & Learn project shortlisted for FDF Award

The Kinder + Sport Move & Learn project, developed by EFL Trust and Ferrero, has been shortlisted for the ‘Education Initiative Award’ at the Food and Drink Federation Awards 2017.

The activity programme is designed to get children moving by encouraging dynamic play and sports amongst young people and their families, promote nutritional education and build awareness of the importance of a healthy diet and active lifestyle.

As childhood obesity levels continue to rise across Britain, Ferrero recognised a responsibility to take positive action to promote nutritional education and build awareness of the importance of a balanced diet and active lifestyle amongst children.

After forming a partnership with EFL Trust in 2014, the project has expanded to reach over 54,000 children in the UK and continues to grow.

Accrington Stanley are 1 of 24 EFL clubs who run the project through their Community Trust reaching out to schools across the country.
